# Square bar (EN 10059 / square stock) Solid square stock at any side and length: EN 10059 hot-rolled square steel bars and plain square bar. ## Geometry A square section of side **a** (`side`) centred on the origin in XY, extruded along +Z by **l** (`length`). Sharp corners: the slight corner rounding EN 10059 allows on hot-rolled bars and its tolerances are not modelled. ## Parameters | Parameter | Meaning | |---|---| | `side` | Side a, mm | | `length` | Length l, mm | | `material` | `steel` (S235JR, EN 10025-2), `stainless-304` (1.4301), `aluminium-6061` (6061-T6), `brass` | ## Source EN 10059:2003, *Hot rolled square steel bars for general purposes — Dimensions and tolerances on shape and dimensions* (current edition), read from the SIST EN 10059:2004 preview (= EN 10059:2003, ): a square bar is designated by its side a. Table 1 (p. 5) gives the dimension range, 8 to 150 mm; the catalogue's 160, 180 and 200 mm "EN 10059" bars are outside it and have no preset. EN 10059 bars carry no length (mill lengths): their presets are 1000 mm pieces. Plain square bar presets: side × side × length as designated, no standard. Preset list: sizes of the step.parts catalogue (MIT), see `library/NOTICE.md`.
