# Round bar (EN 10060 / round rod) Solid round stock at any diameter and length: EN 10060 hot-rolled round steel bars and plain round rod. ## Geometry A cylinder of diameter **d** (`diameter`) and length **l** (`length`), axis along +Z, one end face on the XY plane centred on the origin. The diameter is the nominal one; rolling tolerances are not modelled. ## Parameters | Parameter | Meaning | |---|---| | `diameter` | Diameter d, mm | | `length` | Length l, mm | | `material` | `steel` (S235JR, EN 10025-2), `stainless-304` (1.4301), `aluminium-6061` (6061-T6), `brass` | ## Source EN 10060:2003, *Hot rolled round steel bars for general purposes — Dimensions and tolerances on shape and dimensions* (current edition), read from the SIST EN 10060:2004 preview (= EN 10060:2003, ): a round bar is designated by its nominal diameter d, the only dimension of the section. Clause 5 (p. 5): bars are delivered "with the specified dimensions range given in Table 1"; Table 1 (pp. 6-7) lists the preferred diameters 10 to 250 mm and its footnote a admits diameters above 250 mm. EN 10060 presets therefore start at 10 mm; the catalogue's 6 and 8 mm "EN 10060" bars are below the standard's range and have no preset. EN 10060 bars carry no length of their own (mill lengths): their presets are 1000 mm pieces. Plain round rod presets: diameter × length as designated, no standard. Preset list: sizes of the step.parts catalogue (MIT), see `library/NOTICE.md`.
