# MakerBeam profile (10 × 10 mm) The MakerBeam 10 × 10 mm aluminium beam at any length. Presets cover the catalogue's MakerBeam lengths. ## Geometry The section, centred on the origin in the XY plane, extruded along +Z by `length`: - a 10 × 10 square; - in each face a slot 3 wide through a lip 1 thick; under the lips the slot widens into a dovetail whose straight walls run at 41.1° down to the 4 × 4 core (slot floor 2.0 from the centre). The walls meet the lip underside 3.293 from the slot's centre line and the floor 1.000 from it (where MakerBeam's wall line meets those two faces); - a Ø2.5 centre bore through (the tap drill of the M3 × 8 end threads; the threads are not modelled). All four sides are the same, turned 90°. MakerBeam's R0.2 corner and edge radii are not modelled. Section area 48.75 mm² (0.132 kg/m in aluminium; MakerBeam prints 0.013 kg per 100 mm). ## Parameters | Parameter | Meaning | |---|---| | `length` | Length, mm | | `finish` | `clear` or `black` anodised (appearance only) | ## Source MakerBeam, technical drawing of article **100168** "beam clear anodised, M3, Ø2.5", L = 100 mm, aluminium 6063-T5, weight 0.013 kg, general tolerance ±0.05, scale 5:1: `100168.dxf` and `100168.pdf` in MakerBeam's technical-drawings folder linked from https://www.makerbeam.com/technical-drawings/ (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B8h5C_ek_fmKUzFid0FhT1I1OFU?resourcekey=0-DBZeqE-GwtmdcRth6FBulA, subfolder 100168). Printed dimensions: □10, slot 3, 3.5, 3, □4 (core), 1 (lip), Ø2.5, M3 × 8 (2×), 100. Read from the DXF's geometry (drawn at 2.5 : 1, here in mm from the section's centre, top slot): outer square ±5 with R0.2 corners; slot opening x = ±1.5; lip from y = 4.0 to 5.0; lip underside from x = 1.7 (R0.2) outward; undercut wall the straight line through (2.8908, 3.6493) and (1.0565, 2.0493) (41.1°); core flat at y = 2.0 between x = ±0.925 (R0.2); centre circle Ø2.5; every internal corner R0.2. Not covered: the MakerBeam brackets (45°, 60°, 90°, straight, T, corner) and the corner cube: their drawings show stamped features that are not dimensioned.
