# Flat bar / rectangular bar (EN 10058) Solid flat (rectangular) stock at any width, thickness and length: EN 10058 hot-rolled flat steel bars and plain flat and rectangular bars. ## Geometry A rectangular section, width **b** (`width`) along X and thickness **t** (`thickness`) along Y, centred on the origin, extruded along +Z by **l** (`length`). Sharp edges: the edge rounding EN 10058 allows and its tolerances are not modelled. ## Parameters | Parameter | Meaning | |---|---| | `width` | Width b, mm | | `thickness` | Thickness t, mm | | `length` | Length l, mm | | `material` | `steel` (S235JR, EN 10025-2), `stainless-304` (1.4301), `aluminium-6061` (6061-T6), `brass` | ## Source EN 10058:2018, *Hot rolled flat steel bars and steel wide flats for general purposes — Dimensions and tolerances on shape and dimensions* (it replaced EN 10058:2003), read from the SIST EN 10058:2019 preview (= EN 10058:2018, ): a flat bar is designated width b × thickness t. Clause 5 delivers bars "with the specified dimensions range given in Table 1", whose thicknesses run from 4 to 80 mm; the catalogue's 20 × 3, 25 × 3 and 30 × 3 "EN 10058" bars are below that range and have no preset. EN 10058 bars carry no length (mill lengths): their presets are 1000 mm pieces. Plain flat and rectangular bar presets: width × thickness × length as designated, no standard. Preset list: sizes of the step.parts catalogue (MIT), see `library/NOTICE.md`.
